Maggi,
The ubiquitous Habranthus tubispathus, that comes as assorted things in seed exchanges. Pretty, but very prolific. ;D

Thanks, Paul .... I'll pass along the "verdict" :)

and very difficult to photograph. When I repotted mine they came in to flower within days

it came as a Sternbergia :P
Yes 'Sternbergia' turned out to be the same here ;D because I failed to spot how 'wrong' the seed looked.

Anyone want seeds from my H. tubispathus? Counting my seeds before they hatch - the pods are green

"The ubiquitous Habranthus tubispathus, that comes as assorted things in seed exchanges."
It may be ubiquitous, but it is still very pretty (...and boy, does it seed around!).
I recently purchased a packet of Narcissus bulbocodium graellsii from a very reputable nursery in the UK (so I don't doubt the authenticity - much), but on sowing I thought the seed did not resemble the idea I had in my mind of a Narcissus very much - sort fo softish, black and angular. Anyway, after many months a few have germinated - bright green and hair-like, so it's very difficult to tell what they are at this stage - time will have to tell! Now it's time to plant some zinnias and petunias for quick flowers - it can be very wearisome waiting years and years for certain things to flower, can't it? ::)
