Here are some images taken of the Ayrshire Rock Garden Club’s entry in the Ayr Flower Show Golden Rose award for Horticultural Societies, sent to us by Neil McNulty.

...warm congratulations are in order as the club won 2nd prize with a very imaginative and creative effort. The theme was “Come to the home of enlightenment and innovation” (one of the Burns homecoming themes)– a difficult topic to link to at the best of times but even more so in a plant tribute.
But Sheila McNulty the designer of the display did so through the link with George Forrest - Explorer and James Thomson - Fossil collector and depicted within the display - symmetry of design including all the elements of a rock garden as well as rock fossils, in an elegant and clever juxtaposition.
It more than deserved coming 2nd, as you can see from the photos.
The Ayr Flower Show display attracted an unusual amount of interest from the public- with the possibility of new members...... tribute once more to the talents of Sheila for her design work and to the Ayrshire Club for their work on the display....
Well Done, Folks!
