We had a trip this morning to look at the epipactus growing in the sand dunes at Ainsdale on the Lancashire coast near Southport.
We were really a little late for the epipactus which was just finishing but there were some other lovely plants there. What a wonderful plant the eryngium is.
Epipactus palustris
Parnassia palustris
Eryngium maritimum
Pyrola rotundifolia

What wonderful plants to find on the dunes, Tony, the Eryngium maritimum looks so steely and handsome against the sand :)

Hi Tony, yes were both still here, lots of work on the house this year so the garden is neglected, but we have played out in the garden today, both got a week off. Its like a jungle! Hope your both well, Dan and Ellen.
