Title: Campanula
Post by: Cgull49 on June 27, 2009, 10:06:00 PM
I received some Campanula zoysii (#738) seeds from the SRGC 2007 seed exchange.  I sowed them in the spring of 2008 and they are blooming now.  However, they don't look like C. zoysii.  Would anyone be able to identify what I do have?

It's a Phyteuma ... one of the rampions ... but not convinced which.

It could be Phyteuma charmelii. Phyteuma generally set large quantities of seed and I have had a few of the more 'common' species as various 'rarer' Phyteuma and Campanula.

It's is interesting that not just a few but, so far as I can tell, all of the germinated seeds are Phyteuma. And I was so looking forward to the C. zoysii.

Thanks for your identification.

Rob,
I'm waiting for C. zoysii to flower in the coming days/weeks - buds are forming right now - if it set seeds I will gladly collect some for you !  Let me know if you are interested.
