Title: Mystery crassulaceae
Post by: JohnnyD on June 09, 2009, 03:11:54 PM
Any ideas what this smashing little plant is anybody?
It was found in many places in Andalucia (El Torcal, Ronda etc.) on a trip we made with the Smethys last week.
Not quite a sedum and not quite Mucizonia - I am at a loss! :-[

John, this was not so difficult to find out, if having the right literature.

Sedum mucizonia (or Mucizonia sedoides) it's annual.

My book says Mucizonia sedoides is hairless! And the pics on Google look completely different.
Happy to take your word Luit but .... ???

Are you sure they are synonymous? Here's a picture labelled Sedum mucizonia that looks like your unknown: http://www.flickr.com/photos/_mm_/510982696/

Edit: ...and a book link giving the synonym Mucizonia hispida for S. mucizonia. Congrats on the i.d. As Maggi says, it's a fabulous little thing. All the more reason to set seed if it is an annual...
