Wild in the south of France, this is one of my favourite plant !
bright colour, lot of flowers, easy to grow, and easier to increase by seeds, the perfect garden plant, soil tolerant in full sun !

Fred that is wonderful and great pictures
-
Wonderfully thick and waxy.
-
Fred,
Beautiful, isn't it!! Is that similar to Lilium tenuifolia / Lilium pumilum?
-
Thank's !
Yes paul, it's quite similar to Lilum pumilum, but smells different and leaves are also different.
-
Each flower so beautifully spaced and red hot in the sunlight - I love the red stamens too :)
-
Great plant Fred !! :D
-
Fred, thank you for showing this floral gem. It is also my favourite lily,
easy to cultivate, very floriferous and good to raise from seed.
-
One of my favorite lillies because of the fabulous leaves. It grows in the local botanical garden, but I've never seen any seed on those plants. Does anyone know where I can get seeds of it?
-
Absolutely gorgeous!!!

Hi,
A really nice species indeed with lots of waxy flowers. I don't know it but have grown once lilium pumilum.Really fragrant. It is said that it's not the case of lilium pomponium .Flowers seem to be similar as are those of lilium chalcedonicum ( seen on photos ). Could you please Fred tell the differences on these 3 species' leaves? Do you have pics?
Regards
Jean-Patrick

Jean Patrick,
here are the leaves, quick and bad pics this morning ;)
Lilium pomponium ( also fragrant but smells very different from L. pumilum )
You can see that this species has white margins, not present on the following sp.

The two pics of the foliage tell the story. If only others who describe plants would be so explicit. So many times we are told all the similarities between species but not told the one defining thing that distinguishes one from another, in otherwise similar plants. So thanks for these excellent pictures Fred.
-
Excellent, Fred. Perfect picture!! 8)

Thanks for a great set of pics, Fred.
I'll check out the seedlings I've grown labelled as this one to see if it is! It would be nice to see it flower.
cheers

Hi Hubi! Great to see you here again!
-
Thomas in a remote mountainous surrounding and no crocus around -
what is happening?
Glad to see you too!

Thanks Maggi and Gerd,
I'm still happy in the mountains, even if no crocus around - it was a bit too early for Crocus ligusticus.
It was a biking and hiking holiday with Chris and it was great as always :-)
