Title: Sax ID
Post by: Mark Griffiths on March 28, 2009, 02:45:33 PM
hi I bought this sax labelled "Saxafrage yellow" anyone care to give me an ID? Hopefully it will be ok in the open rock garden in a gritty pocket.

I would guess Section Porphyrion?  And Subsection Porophyllum?

(And if even that is true, it narrows it down hardly at all.  :P)

I'm wondering if it is Sax. x borisii?

It does not lok like the 'Borissii' i once grew. I had it from Sündemann so it should have been right. That had broader leaves
None of the pictures of the Borissi complex in "Horny" has these acute leave apices.
It is easy to say "Porophyllum = Kabshia" and to say what it is not. ;)
To say what it is is more difficult especially since there must be so many unnamed hybrids out there.
Perhaps some more pictuers also from the side would be helpful

I've lost the tag to this one. Would anyone recognize it? From a distance there is a slight apricot tinge to the colour.
