Title: Crinum 'Cintho Alfa'

I picked up a bulb of Crinum Cintho Alfa in a pre-pack, of all things.  I do not know the cultivar at all, if it actually is one.  As is is pictured as white with red striped, I take it to be a hybrid or selection from C. scabrum.  Does anyone have and information on it?  Cultural hints?  I've managed to kill every Crinum I've tried, except, of course, the ubiquitous rose-pink hybrids, C. xpowelli, which are out of control! :-\

Jamie how did your plant do? Is it hardy? Any photos?

I don't know Crinum 'Cintho Alfa' but if related to scabrum then probably not hardy.  Have you yet killed Crinum bulbispermum or C. variabile in the ground?  Both survive outdoors in the ground here in central Indiana, so they ought to make it in Germany as well.  I could send seeds next summer if you like (I will need reminding in June and in August).

it was not hardy in Germany, Zone 8ish.  Other than a couple of leaves, it did little.  Have you seen it offered, again?  You may have it a bit warmer than my garden.

it does look lovely!  It may be a good winter garden/greenhouse subject.  Mine was in the garden house and didn't handle -5°C.  When bulbs don't overwinter with me, it is typically winter wet that does 'em in.
