For you rhodophiles who are desperate for some photos these link were sent in yesterday by Hans Eiberg to the Rhodo-L, a Yahoo rhodo chat group.

I'd be interested to know the i.d. of the Primulas and especially the Rhododendron Photo 103, first album - incredible foliage. Perhaps we can take the winter trying to identify all the rhododendrons, only a few which are obvious to me.
Thanks to Cliff the hyperlinks now work, greatly appreciated. Can someone tell me how to enable the hyperlinks? I pasted the links in and then highlighted each one and pressed the globe icon but nothing.............

edit by Maggi.... John, do you perhaps mean photo 103 in the first album? That shows an extraordinary plant with FAB leaves.... while No. 102 shows a mixed scene of several plants??

Maggi - You're right it was photo 103. The "live" plant photo 102 however may be the same species but lacking the coloration of the new growth. Could it be an Arborea, something like lanigerum or am I way off the mark?
Some smashing little edgeworthiis and intriguing dwarf yellows!
Easier to run it as a slide show as opposed to clicking your way through hundreds of pix.

I have no good idea... but it is spectacular and very handsome...... envy, envy!
The Omphalogramma flowers of varying types and hue are mouthwatering, too...I suspect there will be many hours spent enjoying those albums!

I have never seen R. gongshanense..... more's the pity :'( It was only described in 1997, I think?
It sounds, from the relatively low collection elevation, in fairly thick forest, that is requires a fair amount of protection from frost.... R. irroratum doesn't much care for life here so a plant that is going to take offence at less than ten degrees would never make it here, even if I could source a plant.... what a shame..... I LOVE it!! :-\ :'(

Yup, just our luck... the botanical equivalent of a deadbeat dad...... off enjoying himself in his native land..... no thought for our arranged marriage and the future of his beautiful children..... I don't know what young rhododendrons are coming to, these days :-\ :(

I've just had a message from Bent Ernebjerg who tells me that "it was Steve Hootmann RSBG Seattle who identified no 103 as R. gongshanense, not Hans Eiberg "
