Title: Help with Beesia and Saruma seeds
Post by: ellen&dan on October 04, 2008, 01:38:30 PM
Hi there
We have just received seeds of Beesia calthifolia and Saruma henryi and cant find any info on how best to sow them. Has anyone had any success with either varieties.
Thanks Ellen and Dan

Although I have not grown Saruma henryi (one of my favourite plants) from seed I was told by someone who did that it "grew like topsy" so I should think standard procedure would suffice.

Ellen & Dan,

I grow both Beesia calthifolia and Saruma henryi from seed very easily. No special conditions required. They seed themself freely in the garden.

Glad to know the beesia will self seed.  I gathered a few last year but no joy with them, so perhaps I'll try the carefree method this year and see whether I get any progeny.
