Post by: hadacekf on September 13, 2008, 08:42:55 PM
Before 15 years I visited the Zygana Pass in Turkey. In the autumn there are innumerable Colchicum speciosum in flower. I think it is of interest.

Zygana Pass
Colchicum speciosum

By the way, A curious scent can be noticed in this species.

Franz,
Incredible - during 2 recent visits in spring I  only saw numerous leaves of the species, now I have an idea how beautiful the colchicums look when flowering in autumn.

Thank you so much for these fine pics. I never thought, that C. speciosum can differ such a lot. I meant, the flower of C. speciosum ALBUM is typical for this species. You show u, it isn`t so.

Brian

It would need an army of JCB Diggers to make even a slight impression on the population.

I too have only seen the leaves.
