Title: An unknown iris

A friend sent pictures of a mislabeled iris.  Can anyone recognize it?  Is it a species, do you think?

The sneaker is for size comparison.   :)

the Iris Looks like Iris ruthenica, maybe var. nana.

Yes, it resembles I. ruthenica.  I grow I. ruthenica nana and the falls are a different shape.  That's what stymied me.
