Last June we had the chance to spend some sunny days in bella Italia. The weather before our
visit there was unusually rainy,so the vegetation was still rather green unlike in the former years.
The attached pictures were made in an elevation of 300-400 meters.
The flowering of the Spartium was an unforgetable experience for us.
All these plants are native, except Passiflora caerulea from Brasil which enjoys this warm climate
in the gardens.

Another day we had a trip to Monte Saccarello, the highest elevation of Liguria(2201m).
The weather was very nasty with mist, rain, thunderstorm and hail. This was such a pity because
the scenery and the mountain flowers were simply outstanding.I wondered, why many of the
flowers were damaged, but after the heavy hail I knew why.
Dactylorhiza sambucina and Primula elatior were at their best for my taste!

Lovely. That yellow Dactylorhiza in particular is beautiful, and I think I am going to have to track down Anemone narcissiflora one of these years as I have now seen a number of pics recently and loved every one of them. Thanks for sharing your pics with us. 8)

Great photos, Rudi! I've been in Liguria twice (Ventimiglia) and always had bad weather.
This year was the first time I had sunshine when I was in Eastern Liguria.
I hope you have more photos!!!! :D

Dear friends, many thanks for your kind comments.
You asked for more pictures and I add some, but I am sorry that there are not so many more from the
alpine regions. The weather was simply too bad and we had only this one day left. There were so many
goodies including Soldanellas,Crocus and other spectular plants left-a reason to visit this blessed region
again.
