Title: Crocus Offered - Wanted - Exchange
Post by: tonyg on June 26, 2008, 05:42:21 PM
Here is a thread where we can offer/ask for/swap crocuses!

I have too many Crocuses :) :D :)
I need to slim down my collection and to this end I am willing to offer anyone who is interested a share of the spares this summer.  The majority will be autumn flowering taxa.
There is a 'catch'.  Having had a virus issue in the last year they come with a health warning.  I removed and destroyed any suspicious plants last winter however experience tells me that there will be more problems lurking in some of the plants.  However as they are offered free of charge (you are welcome to pay the postage) I am hoping that some of you will be able to give them a good home.
SO - if you are interested please contact me via PM or email.

Tony, www.Dixexport.com lists 'Prinses Beatrix' in this years list.
I've ordered some last year and they were true.
Next summer I could help with a few spare corms, too.

Thanks Thomas, I knew you would reply but also hope someone in the UK knows of a retailer who sells it.  I have passed the info on.

I grow it if the person can wait until next year. I would guess Pottertons stock it

It's not in Potterton's catalogue but is in R V Roger's.

R V Roger is unknown to me. Looking at some of their prices, they are likely to remain so. Their spelling of crocus names doesn't inspire confidence.

I have had unhappy experiences with R V Rogers.  They will not get repeat orders from me.  Plus their postage rates are £7.50 even if you order one bulb.

I didn't recommend them, just that they had it in the Catalogue :-[

I have it here too - it grows well and produces some interesting seedlings.  It's often offered in the local nurseries who get their bulbs from Holland.   Not much use I know, but it shouldn't be that hard to find.
