Title: Lilium 2022
Post by: Leena on July 23, 2022, 09:26:42 AM
Some pictures of my lilies this summer.
Lilium kesselringianum flowered in the beginning of July.
Martagon lilies started around the same time.
First is L.martagon album, the second picture is of a plant which starts off white but soon changes to cream colour, very nice.
The third is an unnamed martagon hybrid found in Finland, and it also flowers a bit later. It has cream coloured flowers with little spots.

Martagons are now over but Lilium canadense is still flowering, and has been flowering already for two weeks.
Lilium distichum started to flower this week.
The last picture is of an old nameless lily which my mother had gotten in 1972. It would be great to get a name to it, because it is a good and reliable variety and has lasted in my mother's garden now for 50 years.  It's flowers are golden yellow with no spots or other colour.

Wonderful lilies you show. It is a pity, but they do not like me garden.

Beautiful, Leena. The white martagons look good with the meconopsis.

Thank you Herbert. :)
I am so lucky they grow mostly well in my soil, and even last winter, which was so bad for many plants, didn't do harm to lilies. :)
Lily beetle is the only trouble with them, and of course there can be voles which eat them, so they are not so sure plants.

Beautiful, Leena. The white martagons look good with the meconopsis.

Carolyn, thank you!
Some Meconopsis were still flowering at the same time as martagons, and I didn't think about how good they look together with lilies when I planted them, but they do!
That Meconopsis in the picture with white unknown martagon is grown from seed ex seeds, and was called Jim's ex. It flowered for the first time this summer, and is a very good Meconopsis, started to flower early and flowers lasted a long time, and a good colour, too. :)
