Title: Erinus and Gentiana

I received some seeds of Erinus alpinus and Gentiana pneumonanthe today. Can anyone tell me what's the best way to sow them?

Erinus alpinus is best scattered where you want it, on a patio, gravel, between paving stones. I have never found it easy in pots but if you have plenty of seed it is great for making a lovely show at this time of year on areas which might be difficult to establish full size plants. I gave a friend a bag of seed and she put it on a table, the wind blew it off and the seed scattered about her terrace, what a great show she had the next year.

If it likes the situation you sow it in (well drained, scree-like) you will not only never be without it, you will be pulling it out in handfuls from where you DON'T want it!

Gentiana pneumonanthe , the Marsch Gentiana grow in wettish grassland and in bogs. It is a nice plant, 20 – 30 cm tall.

Here is an example of where Erinus likes to grow, great for covering hard landscaping.
