Title: Armeria ID
Post by: Leucogenes on June 12, 2020, 01:51:44 PM
I received this Armeria last year as A. rubrifolia.  But I suspect that's not true... because the flowers have no stems.        Are there any cultivars of them?   Or can anyone make a determination based on this photograph?

Thanks
Thomas

I think your suspicions are correct as it should have reddish foliage!
Not sure on the identity though; if all the flowers are sessile it is worth keeping!
cheers

It’s definitely not rubrifolia, and I once had ambition to own a national collection, but having collected many, I cannot remember seeing any that looked like this stemless flower.   I will be most interested when you manage to identify it.

Hello fermi & chris...

I think I have the solution to this little riddle.

I was informed this morning by my good friend Dave Toole (NZ) via WhatsApp that it could probably be Armeria " Candy Floss".  It is available at Hokonui Nursery...  unfortunately unavailable to me.

Again a thousand thanks to Dave...😉
