Here's the first one of the season: Hyacinthoides mauritanica
-
new ones are currently blooming : Scilla messeniaca and Scilla morrisii both from seeds (2015)
-
Lovely little plants Yann
-
This one came as seeds labelled as Scilla monanthos and they are the earliest blooming outside but they do not have a very prominent dark mid rib on the pale blue petals.
-
This pure white form of Scilla bifolia was offered as weeker growing than the usual ones - in fact it looks much more substantial than the bulk of them growing in my garden.
For comparison on the left is what I got as Scilla bifolia var. taurica, a plant found growing in Crimea a long time ago, usually a much chunkier version of the ordinary Scilla bifolia. Janis Ruksans described in Buried Treasures a similar looking Scilla he discovered there - does anybody know whether they are the same?

-
Are Muscari allowed on this thread? If so...
[attachimg=1]
Muscari azureum, grown from the seedex.
[attachimg=2]
Another Muscari (is it the white form of azureum?). I think this came from IKEA of all places!
-
Hyacinthoides vicentina, thanks to Yvain :D
-
Mine are still in bud ;)
-
Hyacinthoides vicentinais is beautiful !
-

-
Scilla lilio-hyacynthus, native to the Pyrénées mountains in France. Lovely large foliage and delightful blue!
-
A must have, it can grow in a huge range of soils and climates.

Zagrosia persica, general view and close up
Nice spike for persica, do you know the geographic origin?

No, it comes from PaulChristian and there is no indication about the origin on the website.

Some more
Hyacinthoides paivae, at least, that is my identification for this Hyacinthoides from northern Portugal
Othocallis amoena
-
And Tractema (ramburei ssp.) verna from northern Spain
-
Othocallis amoena deserves its name, Karaba!
A find in a local wood where Hyacinthoides non-scripta grow.

Othocallis amoena
Othocallis amoena is my favorite, i grow it in deep shade and got intense colors, the bulbs planted in full sun have smaller flowers.
-
Scilla verna subsp. ramburii, very nice form thanks to Gerd ;)
-
I've some grown from Seedex seeds but still not flowering.
The taxonomy of this species is a mess with different species described from Gallicia (Tractema merinoi ), Andalousia (T. odorata), South-West France (T. umbellata) and in Spain where ramburii is quite different from verna, they have lump them in the same species !
I have now T. verna from Basque country and seedlings from Wales, ramburii from somewhere in Spain ( ;D) and would like to have some other of the Scilla verna group from the other origins.

Muscari mirum

-
Scilla mischtschenkoana
-
Nice pictures. :) That is my favourite scilla because it is an early one to flower in the spring, and it doesn't seed around too much. In fact I have never gotten seeds from my plants, maybe they need another clone to produce seeds.
-
Hyacinthella nervosa is in flower once again.
The scape is not very high - I can't remember if it got much taller last year
cheers

-
Hyacinthoides lingulata is now emerging in the greenhouse before any watering, with leaves to follow. However it's earlier in the garden & leaves come first (appreciated by slugs).
-
Scilla bifolia is growing in a bed which which gets some gets some irrigation and shade in summer. I think it can be a menace in milder climates but isn't invasive here
cheers

Quick question - I've just bought Scilla verna from Shiptons and they have arrived in leaf. Is that usual for verna?
-
a bit late, but yes quite normal. I've several forms producing 5-6cm leaves right now, they don't grow much more until january.
Prospero autumnale ssp. latifolia
-
and to close 2020 Hyacinthoides mauritanica that i splitted in september in several small pots and now growing among Ranunculus creticus canopee.
