This has been puzzling me for years. It is a shrub growing out of a pile of brushwood in my ponies' field. Last year I posted a pic of the fruits and someone suggested it might be a Lonicera. This is the first time I have seen it flowering. Not very exciting. Presumably the seed was dropped by a bird. Sorry for the blurry picture taken in the rain today.[attachimg=1]

Foliage is not very lonicera-like, to my eye. Is there an exaggerated calyx ? Looks like there are two flowers per calyx??

Could be lonicera involucrata?

Think these are bracts with 2 flowers in each pair

Thanks, Gail. That looks very like it.

Well done, Gail! I've learned a valuable lesson there!
