Title: AGS East Anglian Show 4th May 2019
Post by: Gail on May 04, 2019, 07:22:26 PM
Just a few photos of the East Anglian Show at Wymondham, Norfolk today; some lovely plants and even lovelier people! Excellent nurseries attending including Pottertons and Aberconwy.

Lots of colour from the Lewisias

Allium shelkovnikovii 'Sarejn' won the Sudbury prize for best pan of bulbs for Robert Rolfe

[attachimg=3]
Very impressive panful of Iris cristata x lucustris

I thought this was a Podophyllum, but turn your back for a moment and its name changed....

I seem to be in a primula mood at the moment (having recently spent rather more than I should have with Barnhavens) so was drawn to the several potfuls of various forms of P. sieboldii shown, and grown from seed, by Ian Instone.

But the one that won my 'plant I would most like to take home' award was this primula, here ready to have a proper photo taken by Doug Joyce. Unfortunately I looked at the label, thought to myself "I'll remember that" and of course don't...

I used to enjoy visiting this show, despite the fact that Wymondham seemed a bit of a trek from Cambridge.   Now its five and a half hours away by car - so thanks for the pictures, Gail.

Diane  Clement tweeted this  super  shot  of  Don Peace with his  Farrer  Medal winning  Cypripedium parviflorum at the  East Anglia show ....  cracking  plant, isn't  it?

  Don was  asked  how  old the  plant  was - he  replied that he'd "bought it at one of the AGS shows during 2011. From memory it had a couple of flower stems. It had 4 flowers the following year and then went onward and upwards from there"
 - not  bad  going!

Hi Gail
The blue Primula was Wharfedale Bluebell.  I have only just got back from Norwich, so it will probably be towards the end of the week before I can post any pictures to the AGS website.
