Title: March 2019 in the Southern Hemisphere

To open the month (on the 10th!) this is Bessera elegans which I have not got through a winter before!
These came from Palmiro, one of our AGS Vic Group members, who gave good instructions on how to keep them alive - dry in winter!

That's probably why they didn't survive for me Fermi ,too wet while resting.......

Lovely still warm autumnal day here ,where it reached 24c ,for our local garden group's first meeting of the year .We visited a couple of 'town' gardens where there was still plenty of colour from various Roses, Fuchsia ,Michaelmas Daisies and others.

Second garden where we had a pot luck lunch. :P

Datura sps,(moonflower), on the east wall enjoying the heat.

Hydrangea quercifolia ,(Oak leafed hydrangea).

Alstroemeria pulchella.

Beginning to sort out the bulb part of my garden. Colchicum cupanii, Sternbergia lutea, Drimia maritima, Cyclamen maritimum and Narcissus tazetta out now. It has been a long hot summer and temperatures are still around 25^oC during the day. Just three separate days of rain since Christmas. Garden a 30o slope of solid clay.  :-[

Seeing your plant Anthony reminded me that N.tazetta ssp patula is in one of the sand beds here. A careful check today and they are just starting to push out roots.

Lovely to see Sternbergia lutea again which I used to have .

All good here Fermi. It's been a long hot summer. Gradually sorting out my pots two years after we moved to Maraetai in east Auckland. No mains water, so watering the garden is not to be taken heavily! Amazing how many have survive the long hot bake!

Still warm down here in the deep south with temps reaching 22c today ,(25c forecast tomorrow).

Gentiana angustifolia cuttings of which taken about 4 weeks ago have produced roots.

Tigridia vanhouttei.

Oxallis lobata.

Cypella herbertii.

Amaryllis belladonna white.

Zephranthes flavissima.

Crocus sps.

Coprosma moorei a yummy native of Tasmania has been in fruit for over 8 weeks and starting to run so plenty of propagating material.
