Hi, can anyone identify my latest Cyp? I believe it to be either tibeticum or smithii but don't know the difference between them.

And for some unknown reason, this photo does not seem to re size when I alter the image size! Not had the problem with any others so I'm sorry it does not fit nicely in the frame.

I'm not minding a large photograph of that one a single bit. Magnificent, Dave.
If I get a chance and no one answers, I'll hit the books later...

Sorted. Bit easier to view now.

It is a rather sombre flower, isn't it? Great photo, Dave, I can see every line and pucker :o

it is a typical Cypr. tibeticum,

That's the form I'm after with the yellow marbling on the tepals. Mine are very dark.

My favourite site for Cyps is w-frosch.de if you follow the links through to 'species' and then 'infragenic classification'
he shows a wide range of colour variants for both tibeticum and calcicolum(smithii), and has one picture directly
comparing the labellum of the two species. Decide for yourself!!
Yours does look the spitting image of Plate 114 in Phillip Cribb's book ( tibeticum!)
The other option is the forum at cypripedium.de
Either way I WANT YOUR PLANT!!!

You might want it more when I tell you its a two nose and the picture is just showing half of it as I am waiting for the other to flower ;D
