Title: Bulb depth

Out of interest at what sort of depth would I  find Erythronium bulbs?They seem to have pulled themselves down an awful long way.

Yes, that's what they do!  They can go VERY deep, Eric - you can only  excavate them carefully  to see  where they have gone to.  E. dens-canis doesn't go terribly deep - but the American species and hybrids  can tunnel like champions!  Might easily be two spade-depths down..... or more!
