Very excited to take a photo of G.peshmenii, so much so that it is out of focus!  These are in the open garden and came through -5C last winter. They’re in a well drained, sunny spot.[attachimg=1]

Hallo David, in my garden in open ground survived some Galanthus reginae-olgae bar-frosts in march 2018 from -18°C and start now again with flowers!

Wow!  Snowdrops can be incredibly resilient.  Both these species enjoy a Mediterranean climate in their natural habitat although some of the r.o’s come from higher altitudes which might account for their hardiness. Of course, there is also the skill and expertise of the gardener!

While Melvyn enjoys the culinary delights of Greece, he has left a reminder of warmer parts here, with some of his great drops!

First up Gro Jane Nicholls, one of his specials. A superb addition to the Gro range. Statuesque and imposing, it is a real head-turner. Last year it reached 23cm, this year 25cm!

Next, Blanc de Chine, a single pot from Melvyn last year, delivers 4 flowers this season.

Next, G. Peshmenii, a favourite of mine.

Finally, Gro Lefki, the most fragrant of any snowdrops I have seen. Completely fills my 8m x 4m greenhouse with scent. Delightful.

Some delights of the Autumn season.

First up, Gr-o Autumn Snow, a poculiform r-o, with the addition of a lovely fragrance. Sourced from Melvyn Jope, so great quality and bulked well.

Crocus Banaticus, bulked very well, beautiful colour and interesting stamen configuration. Both Crocus kept outside all year.

Crocus Hadriaticus, another from Anne Wright, with a wonderful perfume.

Delightful scent in flowers is just such a delight. Always feel a bit cheated when a flower has no scent - then I feel sorry for  the poor thing!  ::)

I agree Maggi, the Gr-os have the strongest and most attractive of any of the snowdrops.

Two more of Melvyn Jope's Gros, both with wonderfully strong perfume!

First Up, Gro Sofia, looking great and with a strong distinctive perfume.

Next Gro Eleni, again with a very strong scent.

The perfume of those in the greenhouse is nearly overwhelming today!

A couple of Gros sourced from Anne Wright in flower today.

First up, Tilebarn Jamie, a rapidly bulking Gro, which performs well.

Next, Ruby's Green Dream, another reliable Autumn regular.

Finally, Cyclamen Intaminatum, one of my favourite varieties, which seems to have been in flower for months.

It has been a great Autumn for drops and Cyclamen so far! More to come!

Great pictures Ingrid.  Tilbarn Jamie is a great Gro - two flowers per scape so making a good statement in a clump.  I’m growing Cyclamen intaminatum for the first time this year. I have it outside in a trough. Really pleased with it.  Also growing Crocus hadriaticus outside in a deep raised bed facing south.  Very nice scent and flowers of some substance.  Hoping it will survive without being under glass. Trying Cyclamen mirabile outside as well. Yesterday’s rain flattened everything though so all the crocuses are looking soggy.

Hi David, I love C. Intaminatum, it does very well for me here. Keep your eye out for Anne Wright's lists, she has some wonderful Crocus and mini-Daffs. I have a number and they increase very well!

That’s a very elegant Snowdrop and a beautifully composed picture Mariette.  Here is a group of Gros taken yesterday at Waterperry gardens.

Bright sunshine here today and the Autumn drops continue apace.

First up, Autumn Beauty with the green bleed resplendent in the sunshine! A good, vigorous variety.

Next an Autumn flowering Plicatus, which is also bulking well.

Currently on the way Eilys Elisabeth Hartley, Andrea's Fault, Carolyn Elwes, York Minster and Twister.

I've rotated Autumn Beauty  for you, Ingrid.

I see you've been  having at that G. plicatus with a goffering iron again, to get those lovely ripples in the petals !!

Thanks for the rotation Maggi!

I agree, the outers are rather lovely. I have a few of these and they add some interest to Autumn drops. The one in the photo is bulking rapidly as you can see from the number of shoots. :)

I have to admit that while I do love a "plain", preferably rather rounded shape to a  snowdrop flower,  I have a soft spot for those rippled  petals - they are  very stylish!

That would be most kind of you -  The Bulb Despot says I'm not to be trusted with a goffering iron myself! (Or  any  hot, or electric device either, come to that! )

A number of people have messaged me about publishing a photo of Eilys Elisabeth Hartley when it flowers, which I am happy to do.

In the meantime, here is one from last year.

In an age when we are daily seeing any old green-tip being declared 'unique and worth naming', this drop is exceptional.

Very nice ! Could someone recommend Gro that is best for scent? I read Blonde Ingrid's posts about fantastic scent but wonder if there is one out there that is available and doesn't break the bank too much?

Try Lefki or Eleni from Melvyn Jope, a great source of quality Gr-os, both have very strong scent.

Your G. peshmenii looks lovely with its green tips, Marie-Rose! Also, ´Tessera´appears to be more elegantly shaped than others of its  kind. Since when do You grow them in the open ground?

Thank You for showing so many aspects of ´Tessera´growing in Your garden, Marie-Rose! It´s good to know that it may take several years to show its full potential.
2008 I planted some G. peshmenii, but they succumbed to the harsh winter 2011/12. Probably my soil isn´t well enough drained, too. What about the positions where You managed to grow G. peshmenii in the border, and which minimum of temperature did they stand?
