Some days ago some friends and we took our traditional 2-day trip to the mountains. As usual we stayed at the
Schwabenhaus, 1520 m above sea level; easily accesable from the Hörnerbahn cablecar top station.
Time was almost too short for hiking, collecting blackberries and sitting together having fun. There were
still some alpines in flower, I found two different forms of Gentianella ciliata, but am not sure, that they are
not different species. Would be grateful about the meaning of the experts.

Rudi,
I guess it was a marvellous experience to enjoy these autumnal impressions in the Alps!
Concerning Gentianella ciliata I am interested in if you (or another forum member)
ever succeeded in raising plants from seeds.

Early September is a wonderful time to be in the mountains Rudi :) Beautiful pictures.
I'm not familiar with Gentianella ciliata, it is very nice, resemble with what here are called now Gentianopsis - fringed gentians.
Gerd - most of them are biennial species and will easily germinate after cold/moist (sown in late fall/winter); I did germinate Gentianella amarella and Gentianopsis virgata.

Gabriela and Gerd, thank you for the kind comments. You are right, we had a real nice time in
the mountains with our friends. I have no experience with raising Gentianella ciliata from seeds.
I did not try it, to be true, because I am not so interested to cultivate monocarpic plants.

Gabriela & Rudi,
Thank you for answering!
@Rudi: Like you I prefer perennials but I dream of a bed with plenty of G. ciliata which perhaps establish themselves by their own seed.
I guess it will remain just a dream.
