Elsewhere Michael B showed a pic of his haul of trilliums, some bought at the FCHS Spring Show.
It was nice to meet him finally! And he also got to meet Otto and Jon B and Cynthia.
The Show was not huge but there were some nice plants exhibited and the plant stall was well patronised ;D
Here are a few highlights from the rock garden section:
1) a look at the main bench
2) Jon B's prize winning Narcissus triandrus hybrid
3) Viv's Heloniopsis orientalis
4) Lois' heuchera foliage
5) Loraine's double primrose

FCHS  show  gives us another great  spectacle.  The Rhodos are  just  fabulous - I can only dream about  being able to grow those vireyas! ( And I do just that!)

Maggi,
I have to admit to have failed dismally with rhododendrons here :-[
So they don't interest me as prospective purchases :o
However knowing that they are a favourite of yours I always try to get pics of them for the Forum :-*
There were also some daffs!
cheers

Our friends Will and Christine Ashburner are the current owners of "Hancocks Daffodils" a major retailer of new daffs in Victoria.
Each year they put on a display at many Flower Shows and I don't think they've missed a FCHS Spring Show since I've been involved.
Here's a look at their display and a couple of close-up pics
cheers

Fine wildflower displays, so why the need for such gratuitously sexist & racist 'packaging' ???
Bizarre editorial decision by someone at the BBC :P

Hi Jamus,
there are 3 shows a year! Maybe you can one day co-incide a holiday over here with one of the shows :)
This year the show also included the National Camellia Championships so here are some of the winners

A great spring show as always at Ferny Creek Fermi. Maybe I'll get over there again some time to see another. The NZAGS Spring Show was on this last Saturday and yesterday but i wasn't able to get up there this time, I hope some of the local people will have taken plenty of photographs for here and elsewhere. Nothing on Facebook that I've been able to find.

The Otago Alpine Garden Group's Spring show will be on Sept 29th, just the one day this year and the season has been so odd that it's very hard to predict what will be out and what not. All my own little daffodils are coming towards their end, fritillarias aren't much better and my primulas have suffered through this winter so I'm finding it difficult to find pots that will be in good condition on the day. Similar results for my stall plants. Some things aren't even through the pot surfaces yet (it's very hard to sell a plant which can't be seen, even with a decent photograph.  ;D) while others are going over too soon. But there always seems to be something, even if it's a plant totally ignored in the past or not performing at its more usual time so no doubt all will be well.

We've had a shrubby white Hardenbergia violacea in one of the raised sand-beds for a number of years (pic 1)
Last year a couple of seedlings came up and the one that we kept also was white.
However we didn't notice another seedling had come up under the nearby gum-tree until the weekend (pic 2) but this one is pink!

We got this pink form of Dampiera rosmarinifolia at Goldfields Revegetation Nursery which is about 30 minutes away.
I was a bit concerned when the main plant died! However it is a suckering shrub and is now quietly spreading through its bed
cheers
