(http://) Found this caterpillar type thing in a cushion Sa Farage growing in a pot which had gone very brown and came away in my hand when I touched it.
Can anyone tell me what it is and how to treat it.
Thanks Jill

Hello Jill - Long time no see!
No idea what your critter is , I'm afraid - but someone with brains will be along soon, I hope!

Caterpillars change quite a bit when they are tiny like that. I think it is probable that any ID (at least from pictures) won't be useful until it has gotten older. But perhaps someone will recognize it.
As an example:
Venessa virginiensis (American Lady)-They prefer my Antennaria rosea ssp. confinis over any other A. rosea I have.

That looks like a hoverfly larva to me, which is very much a beneficial critter as it will be eating your aphids. If your plants are going brown, perhaps look at the roots: could be vine weevil?
