Tomorrow will see the beginning of our ebay offerings for the summer. We have some exclusive and exciting items coming up, including several hard to come by galanthus, and our well-known and desirable Dryad Gold and Estonian Spirit snowdrops, and some VERY special miniature daffodils.
These will include the fabulous 'Fantine' - a multi-award-winning, stunningly elegant miniature from world-renowned Irish breeder Brian Duncan.
Dryad-bred daffodils include our new introductions Kalyke and Little Jen, and the always in demand Andy Blanchard and Trumpet Voluntary.
For people who are not interested in 'drops or 'daffs (I think there are a few out there somewhere) there are some rare Fritillarias too! Look for us on ebay selling as DRYADZNY.

The current ebay offerings include two brand new daffodils  :D
The Fabulous 'Fantine' is a multi award-winning miniature cyclamineus hybrid. Supremely elegant, elongated flowers with white, fully reflexed perianth, and long, pale primrose yellow corona with a delicately flared mouth.
At the London Royal Horticultural Society show in 2018 it was awarded a ‘Grand Slam’ of the prestigious ‘Best Miniature’, ‘Best Any Other Division’ and ‘Reserve Best in Show’. This beautiful hybrid has many other awards, and is a great favourite with the judges. Likely to have a great future as an exhibition bloom.
My own ‘Kalyke’, newly registered, is a white hoop petticoat daffodil selected for its scented, glistening, pristine white flowers with the rim of the widely flared flowers gently rolled back.

Our snowdrop selection starts with a pair of winning yellows.
‘Dryad Gold Medal’ is an ideal yellow to carry on the season from Gold Sovereign, flowering later, and with rounder and fuller flowers, this cultivar shares the same vigorous habit, is quick to increase and very free flowering.
The celebrated ‘Elizabeth Harrison’ is famed for hugely breaking the price record for a snowdrop when it was first introduced. A very beautiful yellow form of G. woronowii,  the golden yellow of the inner mark and ovary being beautifully set off by the deep green glossy foliage. A must in every collection and not often offered.

Inverse poculiform ‘Corrin’, bred by Rannveig Wallis, is a very rare and superb, neat inverse poculiform with plump flowers bearing a double mark on the outer segments.

Finally, four exceedingly rare miniature snowdrops: a virescent, a double, a yellow and a species!
‘Muku’ is a sweet miniature double (‘Muku’ means ‘lovely’ or ‘pretty’) which was discovered by that great plant-spotter Taavi Tuulik, in Estonia.
‘Schmalhans im Grünen’ is a rare and delightful dwarf virescent snowdrop from Hagen Engelmann’s garden, flowering at about 7cm high
‘Estonian Spirit Group 2009-CS10’ is one of the stunning Estonian Spirit Group of snowdrops - this clone performed outside on a raised bed very well here last winter.
Finally, a real little charmer – the very rare Galanthus transcaucasicus, a charming tiny species with glossy, dark green leaves, which frame the beautifully shaped little flowers hanging from a long ovary, and with a delicate mark on the inner segments.

A beautiful snowdrop which has proved to do very well here in Aberdeen. I got it originally from the collection of our  late friend, David  Quinton. It is a superb reminder of him.

Newly on ebay - finishing Thursday.
Galanthus Dryad Gold Bullion -multiplying rapidly and flowering freely, it is smaller and later than Sovereign, and would be a wonderful addition to your collection of yellows.
Galanthus Estonian Spirit Group clone Käina 2007-3, shown on a raised bed here in North Yorkshire last winter.
Galanthus Hatpin has to be in the running for the tiniest double snowdrop, not only very miniature but usually perfectly regular flowers.
Galanthus Ronald Mackenzie is always much in demand because it is so rarely offered, and never in any quantity.

Delicious daffs!
Narcissus ‘Andy Blanchard’ is a dainty and unique true miniature with usually only one flower per stem, when it looks just like a creamy lemon form of N. cyclamineus. Larger bulbs may have twin flowers. It has won many show prizes, and is popular both with exhibitors and alpine specialists.
Narcissus ‘Cheep’ is a very popular white miniature cyclamineus hybrid, the charming flowers opening creamy white, and fading to pure white. It is an excellent show flower which has won many prizes including the prestigious Best Miniature at Royal Horticultural Society Rosemoor 2014. Demand always exceeds supply.
Narcissus ‘Despera’ is offered for the first time this year in very limited numbers. Awarded the prestigious Best Miniature at the Royal Horticultural Society early show in 2016, it is a top performing bloom for exhibition. It has perky sunshine yellow flowers with a short well reflexed perianth and long, slightly flared corona making this true miniature a favourite both with exhibitors and gardeners.

Lastly, two treats if you are not into 'drops or daffs  ;)
ANEMONE RANUNCULOIDES ‘GOLDEN DREAM’ is probably the most amazing of the Estonian double yellow wood anemones - flowers can vary from season to season, and within the same plant in one season. The flower usually has striking green petaloids emerging from the centre of the flower, but some flowers will be almost normal or with a condensed, dark green centre. Much in demand, and a stunning talking point in your garden.
Fritillaria alburyana is very rarely offered for sale. A beautiful Turkish species, flowering as the snow melts. In its haste to attract pollinators, the flower opens as soon as it clears soil level, then the stem continues to lengthen to about 10cm. I keep mine in a slightly damp, shaded plunge during the summer, then in a cold greenhouse during the winter and spring, where the beauty of the flowers can be appreciated close-up.

Finishing tonight, our listings on ebay at present include a major award winning miniature daffodil, and two new miniatures being released for the first time in very limited numbers, plus three of our speciality yellow snowdrops. The rulers in the photos are in CM.
Brian Duncan's ‘SLEEK’ was a big winner at RHS Rosemoor this year being awarded not only the prestigious ‘Best Miniature’, but also a much coveted First Class Certificate.
This little beauty is a multi award-winning miniature cyclamineus hybrid, with a pure white perianth, and creamy lemon frilled corona. Growing to only 10-12 cm high, with short, upright foliage, it makes a superb pot plant.
It is classified for exhibition as 6W-Y, and makes very tiny bulbs.
Also from Brian, ‘COSETTE’ is an flamboyant miniature cyclamineus hybrid, with white reflexed perianth and long bright primrose corona, prettily flared and fringed at the mouth. It has been twice part of a winning Alec Gray Trophy group at Royal Horticultural Society daffodil shows. It is classified for exhibition as 6 W-Y.
From our own Dryad Nursery, ‘LITTLE JEN’ is the first of my seedlings to be considered good enough for my daughter to choose as ‘her’ daff! It is a delicately beautiful x rupidulus cross with 1-3 cool pale lemon flowers, and blue-green foliage, only 10cm high in flower.
Offered is one of the first of our small stock. It is classified for exhibition as 5 Y-Y

From our snowdrop stable - ‘Dryad Gold Medal’ is an ideal yellow to carry on the season from Gold Sovereign, flowering later, and with rounder and fuller flowers, this cultivar shares the same vigorous habit, is quick to increase and very free flowering. Flowering at 15cm, it has the typical extra-long ovary of the Dryad Gold group. The outer segments are smoother, broader and more cupped than Gold Sovereign.
Our Estonian Spirit Group choice this time is clone 2009/CS4. This clone is distinctive for its darker, more olive yellow mark, with a very narrow bridge, contrasting with a clear yellow, more rounded ovary. The flower hangs free of the spathe on a fairly long pedicel, the thicker textured outer segments being fairly strongly cupped, with a short claw.
Despite their fragile, ethereal look, these are tough customers, handling harsh winters in their native Estonia. They look great on a raised bed where you can appreciate their diminutive charms.
RONALD MACKENZIE needs no introduction – the highly sought after yellow form of G. gracilis, with double yellow marks on inner segments, and characteristic twisted leaves. Galanthus Ronald Mackenzie is always much in demand because it is so rarely offered, and never in any quantity. This is our last one of this cultivar this year.

Finishing tomorrow (Tuesday) night, we have three of our signature yellow snowdrops available.
DRYAD GOLD STAR is one of our more diminutive Dryad Golds, a beguiling little snowdrop with large full flowers which open like drop-earrings from long buds, displaying an inverted heart on the inners. Only 8cm high at start of flowering, the blooms display well above short spreading foliage at flowering time. Planted in the open, the clump will glow bright gold in the winter sun. Excellent for pots and containers, though equally happy in the open ground. The photo shows a group on our rock garden at the end of January this year. The small bulbs are vigorous and increase well.

ESTONIAN SPIRIT GROUP clone 2009/CS4 is distinctive for its darker, more olive yellow mark, with a very narrow bridge, contrasting with a clear yellow, more rounded ovary. The flower hangs free of the spathe on a fairly long pedicel, the thicker textured outer segments being fairly strongly cupped, with a short claw. Flowers at 7cm high here. Leaves short at flowering.

DRYAD GOLD BULLION
Flowering later, and shorter than Gold Sovereign, this more compact cultivar shares the same vigorous habit, bulks up very rapidly and is very free flowering. Flowering height 8cm.

Ending tonight, we have 2 very distinctive, but very different yellow snowdrops, a super little miniature daffodil, and a daff that could almost bridge the gap between the others!
GALANTHUS ESTONIAN SPIRIT GROUP ‘KULLAKE’
Exceptionally rare - an outstanding, compact nivalis, very pale and spectral throughout with a narrow, pale yellow mark on inner segments and pale yellow ovary. Even the leaves are pale and silvery. The stunning ghostly appearance makes this a very beautiful and striking addition to the yellow snowdrop group and a real eye catcher.
The first named variety of the Estonian Spirit Group, and the smallest of the group found so far, usually flowering at only 5cm high.
As you would expect from a miniature variety, ‘Kullake’ has naturally very small bulbs, but it increases well.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263893819644 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263893819644)
[attach=1]
GALANTHUS 'DRYAD GOLD SOVEREIGN'
The earliest of the Dryad Gold Group to flower, beginning early-mid January outside in normal years, and in fact by far the earliest of any of the yellow cultivars I grow.
Dryad Gold Sovereign has performed exceptionally well in the garden, long lasting, noticeably large, elegantly long flowers on strong stems, with distinctive long narrow ovaries. A group in flower catching the sunshine is a stunning sight.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263893813108 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263893813108)
[attach=2]
Narcissus ‘Little Racer’
Another winner from Brian, Little Racer is a cheeky little miniature cyclamineus hybrid, opening bicoloured white and yellow, and fading to all white. It has a swept-back perianth, and long, slightly expanded trumpet. It was awarded a prestigious PC in 2013, and has featured in many of Brian’s winning exhibits.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263893826031 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263893826031)
[attach=3]
Narcissus ‘Galantoquilla Group’
Exciting little hybrids from Brian, bred from N.lagoi x assoanus, which he calls his ‘snowdrop daffodils’ because they are similar in size, shape and flowering time to snowdrops. A perfect variety to take you from snowdrops to daffodils. As a group, they are all about 20cm high, with a conspicuous upright green spathe which remains green as the flower matures. Very hardy and will flower through the snow, just like your snowdrops.

One of our more diminutive Dryad Golds, Dryad Gold Star is a beguiling little snowdrop with large full flowers which open like drop-earrings from long buds, displaying an inverted heart on the inners.

DRYAD GOLD MEDAL is an ideal yellow to carry on the season from Gold Sovereign, flowering later, and with rounder and fuller flowers, this cultivar shares the same vigorous habit, is quick to increase and very free flowering. Flowering at 15cm, it has the typical extra-long ovary of the Dryad Gold group. The outer segments are smoother, broader and more cupped than Gold Sovereign.

GALANTHUS ESTONIAN SPIRIT GROUP  ‘KUDRUS’ (2009/CS1)
I urged Taavi to give this clone a name, as it is a gorgeous little snowdrop - a group in flower give the appearance of a clump of tiny lampshades. Possibly my favourite of the Estonian Spirit group! As it is so distinct, Taavi has agreed to name it 'Kudrus' which means 'Tiny Pearl'.
The ovary and flowers are both distinctly rounded, the cupped outer segments having a distinct shoulder after the claw. The short pedicel holds the voluptuous little flower close to the straight spathe.  The colour of the ovary and inner mark are a pale pistachio when grown under glass. The silvery leaves are erect and about half the height of the flowers. Mid height, flowering at about 10cm.

Our daffodil offerings include the 2 whites:
Narcissus ‘WEE DOTE’  is a very popular and consistent exhibition variety from Brian, opening bicoloured and fading to 1W-W. Having excellent show form, it has won many prizes, and it was awarded a PC in 2013. Flowering at 12-15cm high, it also makes a very beautiful and reliable container plant.

[attach=1]
Narcissus ‘TINY LIGHT’ is a very refined little miniature trumpet daffodil opening creamy white and fading to pure white. It has been a constituent of many of Brian’s prizewinning exhibits. Growing to 10cm high here, it makes a charming plant for containers or outside on a raised bed or trough. Rarely offered and only ever in small numbers.

[attach=2]
Lastly we have 2 classic yellow miniature daffodils which as well as being beautiful container and exhibition subjects, make wonderful plants for raised beds and rock gardens:
A superb miniature daffodil from world-renowned Irish breeder Brian Duncan, Narcissus ‘FRINGELLA GROUP’ are super little hybrids bred from N. asturiensis x N. cyclamineus , the parents being selected for their flanged and toothed coronas. As a group, they are all about 10cm high, with a wide spreading 'fringe' at the mouth of the corona. A big bed of these growing in the open ground in Brian's field was a wonderful sight.

Finally, Narcissus ‘PUNK is a great favourite with Brian for its cheeky, upstanding, perfectly formed golden flowers. At 10-12cm high, it is perfect for containers, and performs well outside here on a raised bed.

Our very last listings for this summer finish tomorrow (Sunday) night.
This is your last opportunity to obtain one of our very desirable yellow snowdrops.
The three available include our newer, large flowered, compact Dryad Gold Star (Pictured above) :   https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263906841589 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263906841589)
the popular Dryad Gold Bullion (pictured above):  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263906839862 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263906839862)
- and lastly the Estonian Spirit Group clone 2009/CS10, which was collected on the Island of Kassari, Esiküla village, in an abandoned garden in 2007. The long ovary and markings are very pale, and the flower has a streamlined, elongated appearance, which along with the stiffly upright silvery foliage makes the whole plant look very narrow. Flowering height approximately 6cm.

Dryad  have some new ebay listings beginning....
"We have just a few autumn-flowering snowdrops for ebay this year. Our first  is G. reginae-olgae Ruby's Green Dream  This superb autumn-flowering cultivar is a rare green-marked form, with green lines converging to shade across the centre of the outer segments. Has been sold as ‘Ruby Baker’, after whom it was named, but since that name had already been used for another snowdrop, ‘Ruby’s Green Dream’ is now the official name.
