Is there anyone who can put a name to this Allium please?
I've grown this for ages and it does really well in the garden, multiplying steadily into a clump without ever seeding or spreading around elsewhere. It's a nice little thing and I've now got it established in various places.
To be honest, beyond the usual suspects that are commonly encountered, I don't know much about Allium. Any ID suggestions would be most gratefully received!
Thanks, Ben

Super plant - some sort of Tulbaghia I think? Tulbaghia acutiloba?
....been having a look around the forum to see other examples - colour varies a bit in those shown but these two match ....

Thanks for the quick reply Maggi,
That certainly looks like it. So, not an Allium at all then! Just shows how much I know!

Some of those darker reddish forms are very attractive. Clearly a variable plant.
Cheers!

Your plant is a cracker, Ben - growing very well indeed.
I think the flowers can smell pretty good - but the foliage will have an onion-ish smell.

Ben + Maggi
this plant is a Tulbaghia leucantha ...not T.acutiloba
There are always missunderstandigs with this both species ...
T.leucantha is easy to get ...but true T.acutiloba are rare
The T.leucantha runs under many names - there exist many local forms
Anyway ..a nice plant
