Title: Iranian Flora Identification : Bellevalia or Muscari?
Post by: Osian Thierry on May 23, 2018, 09:58:05 AM
Hello there,

Can anyone help me with the identification of this spring flowering geophyte from the Alborz? I thought it could be Muscari caucasicum but the broader strap like leaves also resemble Bellevalia longistyla. Is it either of these or another species all together?

Many Thanks in advance,
Osian

Looks to be a Ledebouria

This is definitely a Bellevalia and either B. longipes or longistyla, which are both widespread in the region.

I would say Bellevalia glauca

Thank you all for your suggestions!

After doing some image searches and reading up on the species suggested it does definitely seem to be a Bellevalia.
Do you know of any tell tale characteristics I could check for that could tie down exactly which one of these species it is?

Kind regards,
Osian
