Hi everybody.
An error was spotted in my e-mail address as given in the Show Schedule for Glasgow. It should read as john.p.lee25@gmail.com
In other words the "25" is missing. Mea culpa. I missed this when I read the proofs. Hopefully, anyone using the incorrect version will have their message bounced back as not sent or something similar.Apologies for any confusion.

Unfortunately another John Lee received my emails !

Re the Show at Milngavie: according to the Show Schedule the Hall will open at 9.00am on Sat. Thankfully, it is more than likely that exhibitors should have access from about 8.30am. Phew!
See you all on Saturday

Hopefully it will stay dry tomorrow. The projected temperatures of 17-20C don't look like they will materialise and.13-15C seems more likely.
The Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh will be there putting on one of their beautiful displays.
No harm in reiterating what Maggi has already mentioned: 4 nurseries in attendance viz. Ardfearn, Hartside, Kevock, Rumbling Bridge.
Plus the Club's own plant stall.
Our marvellous tea-room which puts "Bake Off" on the back burner.
Ian Bainbridge is continuing to offer some of Duncan Lowe's intricately observed drawings for sale.
Some books and cards will also be available.
See you Friday and Saturday and remember Hall will be open from about 8.30am onwards.

Super photo of little Arwen with her Grandad, Graeme Butler of Rumbling Bridge Nursery - Graeme is showing Arwen the Primula named for the late Bill Robinson who was such a well- known SRGC character- especially at Glasgow.
[attachimg=1]
Bill Robinson was assistant show secretary at Glasgow and also an enthusiastic exhibitor, before his death last year.
This was Show Secretary John Lee's last show in charge - well done for all your efforts over the years, John!

It was good to be back at a show meeting people again-and no-one was more pleased to see me with my camera than Liz!
By 3.30 the show closed. In a remarkably short time Glasgow group members had the staging dismantled . After 20 year service outgoing show secretary John Lee folded up the staging cloth for the last time.

Its good to see Stan back in action but suspect he might be a bit stiff today but just 5 weeks post op and back on song is pretty good going me thinks. It is a strange coincidence that on consecutive weeks I was at shows where it was the last show run by two secretaries of long standing at their respective shows, last week Carol Kellett at East Lancs and this week John Lee at Glasgow and if I may say so, they both 'retired' on really good shows.....thank you again from all exhibitors.
Stan has made a very good impression of the show so I will add some pictures of plants close up with exhibitor identity and class where I got them.
I only made a last minute decision to come to the show (about 6 on Friday evening when Ian Kidman asked if I fancied going, he was driving and had space for a couple of boxes of plants so after a quick look around to see what I had we agreed to go together, he picked me up plus plants at 5-30, the crack of dawn!

It was quite a contrast on arriving home last night, Stocksfield was warm and sunny (20C) whereas Glasgow was cold and cloudy (12C) so when I got back had to start to water greenhouse stuff rather than have a refreshing drink (mind you made up for it later).
Mr Kidman was in good fettle all the way home, as he should have been given his results of the day and once the Sat Nav got us out of Glasgow we had a decent drive back with only light traffic so home by 6-15, nice.

Unfortunately, one of our members lost 2 of her rings, including her engagement ring, at the Show yesterday. Both were gold, one set with 5 diamonds, the other with a single pale blue stone. Because she was working in the kitchen she had taken them off and put them in her spectacles case. Later when she was viewing the Show she took out her specs to read the plant labels and it might have been at that point the rings fell out. Nothing was found on the floor when we cleaned up at the end. So it is a distinct possibility that they fell into a Show or nursery pot and, presumably, might still be sitting there. Thus, I am appealing to all exhibitors and nursery folk to be vigilant
in checking the top dressing of your pots. If they are found then my number is 0141 944 2411. Many Thanks.
On a different note, Saturday was a cracker of a Show and a great way to finish my 20 year stint. I shall, in a day or two, write a more formal thank you to all of you for the past 20 years.
John Lee
