I was wondering whether anyone had any ideas about this plant seen on scree slopes at Tian Bao Shan, Yunnan Province, China in 2018? These are cropped photos and I can send more detailed ones...
-
Thalictrum squamiferum, I believe.

Thanks for your answer to Peter, Bjornar - I hoped you would see the question!

Hi Maggi and Bjorner,
Thank you for this and for your prompt reply. It seems very much like it. The photo of T. squamiferum seems to have darker calyces than from the plants that I have photographed which appear more creamy. Do you think that this is natural variation?
-
I would think so, Peter. Very few plants are without quite a high level of natural variation.

Peter;
It looks like the plant in your photograph already dropped it's pollen, what time did you go? I could still see some of the paths you had walked when I was there on July 11th.
-
Perfectly identified- thank you very much for this! We were there on Friday the 17th of June, 2016. It was a very enjoyable day for plants with plenty of scree plants identified and found. Where we found this was the highest altitude that we attained on that day.
I hope you found it an enjoyable place to explore as well. Did you see anything really interesting!?

I agree, and squamiferum is actually quite easy to grow in the garden in humid and hot eastern Tennessee (USA) conditions. It has persisted and flowered well for nearly 10 years from a Jurasek seed collection.
