Archivist at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, Leonie Paterson, has been tweeting against the plant hunter who is perhaps the most important to the SRGC. It is George Forrest, who is remembered by the George Forrest Memorial Medal, which is awarded to the premier plant in SRGC Shows.
Leonie writes -" It's plant collector George Forrest's 145th birthday today 🎂 His incredible letters and photographs from China at the start of the 20th Century are held The Botanics archive."

Birthday congratulations to Frazer Henderson and Ton Hannik - two forumists who share their birthday with George Forrest - but who are rather younger!
