Title: Spring on Kyklades ( part 1 )

Kalispera  :)

Today I have found some now time to send now some pics from my trip to the Kyklades in spring .
We start by ship from Rafina and our first target was the island of Andros - we reach Batsi where we found a nice room - here is the view to the harbor and the highest moutain : Mt.Kouvara

we saw flowering so many plants -it was the perfect time

...and Fritillaria ( I suppose F. ehrhartii - but I'm not so familar with this genus )

Ophrys episcopalis [large-flowered bee ophrys]

Ophrys mammosa [breasted ophrys]
 
Anacamptis papilionacea [pink butterfly orchid]

really interesting to see is on this island the walls - they build it with schist -I have never seen before this kind of walls

the next is Chora or Andros City

the wether was very mixed -and it was not always able to go on the mountains -but we had luck :

it was a great feeling as we found the peonies : P. mascula ssp. hellenica ( we are a bit too early...)

a other day ( after some rain ,storm ,hail ) we could walk ( climb ) on the top of this island

there is a small chappel on this rocks .....but the storm was so heavy -we had really problems to go....

near the top grows Romulea

and here we are finally on the top ( 1001 m )

and here a view in the valleys

here a other typical sign of this islands :

a tower for doves

after 5 days we leave Andros and go again by ship to other islands - first Tinos , Mykonos ( see pic ) and than Syros - there we must stay for one nigth -on next day we start to Naxos ( via Paros )

I have made from my earlier trips similar pics ....but now with a digicam is it more simply !

Yes, it is much easier, and mine is quite tiny and fits nicely into my handbag so I always have it with me just in case.  My old SLR was so big and bulky I only used to use it for holidays and special occasions, now I can just whip out my digi easily, and I don't waste lots of money processing film only to find out that the picture I took was blurred etc.

It is not so expensiv :

we paid for the fligth 200 € p.P.
for the car per day : 20 €
for the room : 30 on Andros + 22 on Naxos
....+ the passages for the ship + food ....
