Kalispera :)
Today I have found some now time to send now some pics from my trip to the Kyklades in spring .
We start by ship from Rafina and our first target was the island of Andros - we reach Batsi where we found a nice room - here is the view to the harbor and the highest moutain : Mt.Kouvara
-
we saw flowering so many plants -it was the perfect time
here some Anemones :
-
...and Asphodelus
...and Fritillaria ( I suppose F. ehrhartii - but I'm not so familar with this genus )
....and Onosma
-
some Orchids ( thanks for the ID Anthony ):
Ophrys episcopalis [large-flowered bee ophrys]
Ophrys mammosa [breasted ophrys]
Anacamptis papilionacea [pink butterfly orchid]
-
really interesting to see is on this island the walls - they build it with schist -I have never seen before this kind of walls
the next is Chora or Andros City
and a typical church
-
the wether was very mixed -and it was not always able to go on the mountains -but we had luck :
it was a great feeling as we found the peonies : P. mascula ssp. hellenica ( we are a bit too early...)
-
a other day ( after some rain ,storm ,hail ) we could walk ( climb ) on the top of this island
there is a small chappel on this rocks .....but the storm was so heavy -we had really problems to go....
near the top grows Romulea
and here we are finally on the top ( 1001 m )
and here a view in the valleys
-
here a other typical sign of this islands :
a tower for doves
after 5 days we leave Andros and go again by ship to other islands - first Tinos , Mykonos ( see pic ) and than Syros - there we must stay for one nigth -on next day we start to Naxos ( via Paros )
thanks for your interest ....later more
;)

Welcome back Hans, I thought you had been very quiet for a week or two and now I can see why! Lovely pictures I have enjoyed journeying with you.

It is so good to see these far flung places, and such a treat to enjoy the flowers that live there, thanks so much for sharing with us Hans, I thoroughly enjoyed them.

Thank you Chris !
It is a pleasure to share with other members my pics !
I have made from my earlier trips similar pics ....but now with a digicam is it more simply !
-
Yes, it is much easier, and mine is quite tiny and fits nicely into my handbag so I always have it with me just in case. My old SLR was so big and bulky I only used to use it for holidays and special occasions, now I can just whip out my digi easily, and I don't waste lots of money processing film only to find out that the picture I took was blurred etc.

Beautiful images Hans...many thanks for posting.

Thank you Cliff !
I'm glad that you like my pics :)
