Edit: I have removed the link to these two books because it appears that all the photos in the one with images have been lifted from Facebook etc. without permission.

Slightly off topic, but does anyone know if its still possible to get : Snowdrops: A Monograph of Cultivated Galanthus by Bishop,Davis,Grimshaw anywhere at all ? And if theres any info at all on the possible follow up?
The only time ive found this for sale online its been at the most ridiculous prices imaginable.

If you get in touch with John Grimshaw (via Twitter?) I think he may still have some copies

The online high prices you see are simply the seller indicating they don't have it in stock. The prices don't represent their valuation of the book.
You should keep your eye out for junk shops and 'antique shops', they often have piles of books. That was the source for mine for £20-£30 if I recall.

I too have been trying for ages to find a copy of this book and was really excited to read this thread. Only problem is I don't have Twitter! So can't get hold of him that way.
If anyone knows how i could get in contact with either of authors so that I may finally be able to aquire one of these books please could they pm me?
Many thanks Shaun.

I recommend you avoid a first edition if possible as the index is a nightmare unless you know from which species each cultivar comes.

Facebook might work also.
I understand that the authors of the Snowdrops Monograph would have to pay up-front if they wanted another print run and presumably they don't think there is enough residual demand to be sure that they would't lose money. I think they might be wrong but nobody knows for certain.

Thanks Anne and Alan.
Maggi was kind enough to forward some details to me. 😊 Thanks Shaun.

Modern technology now offers to produce books by print-on-demand, which any future books like The Monograph would be well advised to consider. Some authors repeatedly update books produced like that (not sure how updating works with ISBN or copyright). Lulu is the biggest such enabler.

Shauney - did you get any response ? So far i haven't -- i know the man is busy :) Just checking

Hi Deee, Nothing yet! But the best things come to those who wait! 😊 Shaun.

If you cannot get a response from John Grimshaw, perhaps if you have access to the Yorkshire Arboretum, they m ay have some - I remember John mentioning that they might do.... http://www.yorkshirearboretum.org/ (http://www.yorkshirearboretum.org/) You'll need to visit though, no bookshop online I don't think.

Thanks Maggi 😊 I'll try and contact them tomorrow
