Title: Butterfield catalogue 2017-2018
Post by: Maren on September 24, 2017, 11:50:26 AM
Hi all,
the catalogue is now available here (http://www.heritageorchids.co.uk/_Butterfield/Butterfield%20catalogue%202017-2018.pdf).

No pictures of the new varieties this year, I'm afraid, maybe others can help.

I've been lying low, having to deal with a second bout of breast cancer in 20 years and the aftermath of chemotherapy. But things are looking up, just in time for the new season. Life is good, well, better than the alternative. ;) ;) ;)

Maren, thank you for your kind provision of Ian Butterfield's list, as  ever.

I am sorry to hear of your illness and debilitating treatment. I imagined you were just  busy over the last months - but in a better way that  this!  Thank goodness that things are improving now- others will join me, I am sure, in sending our very best wishes for continued  improvement in your health and strength.

Thank you Maggi, you are very kind.

I count my blessings for being a grower. That means one can't just lie about and fester, one's got to get up and look after one's plants. My pleiones require a 16 mile round trip at least 3 times a week in the summer. And when I didn't have the strength to lift the watering can, I just filled it half full and it took a little longer. And my allotments demand my presence too, can't let the weeds grow and upset the neighbours; and the greenhouse needs to be watered daily. Perfect for rehabilitation. It's on a steep hill and there is a lot of huffing and puffing involved, but I'm getting there. - I have been told that a belligerent attitude is beneficial for this sort of condition. No shortage there. ;D ;D

That's the spirit !  Hang in there, Maren - it could be worse........

I love it!!!
that bird was in the next room, but it didn't bother to wear the cold cap to preserve its plumage / hair. It worked for me.

Last I heard, it wasn't sure that Ian Butterfield would have time to sell pleiones this year, even from the old listing...

Hi, it was Iris Butterfield's funeral today. A sad day, and many people (about 75) turned out to support Ian and his family. They had been married for 41 years. The funeral started with the Beatles' song "Imagine..."
Ian says Thank You for all the kind messages he received.
Let's hope he will allow his many friends to comfort him.

Hi Ian,
I understand that Ian Butterfield is sending out last year's catalogue to all his established customers. That same catalogue is still available on first post of this thread.
I took a wander round his nursery the other day and the bulbs look very promising.
Cheers.
