Title: Sikkim: ophiopogon sp.
Post by: Claire Cockcroft on August 23, 2017, 12:09:16 AM
From this summer's trek in Sikkim, something that doesn't quite fit the description of Ophiopogon intermedius.  Over 4,000m, north of Lachung.  Boot in picture gives the scale.  :-)
Help is appreciated.  Thank you!

It's lovely whatever you call it. Flowers seem much larger than the ones we grow.

It looks a lot like an Aletris...

I would agree with arisaema that it looks somewhat Aletris like. Do you have other images? My second option would be Theropogon, but for both close-ups of the flowers and bracts on the stem would be needed to confirm.

Aletris.  Of course!  Thank you.  Here is another photo.  It's not too clear, because the afternoon mist was swooping in.
