Title: Mid-Anglia AGS Bulb Sale 2017
Post by: David King on August 20, 2017, 02:39:10 PM
Saturday 19th August saw the Mid-Anglia AGS bulb sale this year taking place at Fuller's Mill, West Stow.  Fuller's Mill is an excellent garden originally gardened by Bernard Tickner and now run by Perennial.  A garden worth visiting if you are in the area.  Here and in the succeeding posts are a few pictures of the event and no doubt one or two people you may know.

1 and 2.  The sale begins
3.           From left: Andrew Thorp, Emma Thick and Arthur Nichols at Wim Boens (back to camera) stall
4.           Emma Thick again

It was a good venue; I was very impressed by some of the planting in the woodland areas especially. The sale seemed smaller this year than last, with less vendors.

Yes, Chris I thought that too and someone I was speaking to today said exactly the same thing.  Still some lovely things to be had and I am annoyed that I missed the Benton Irises as I was too busy looking at snowdrop bulbs ::)

I was mildly chastised (and rightly so) for not posting on the forum to remind people of this event as it drew near.  I'll try to remember next year; not that this year's event seemed short of people.  Next year the event will again be on August 19th, which will be a Sunday.  The venue in 2019 will be Pentlow Mill in Cavendish.

I note that one of David's pictures shows a happy-looking Carolyn Millen, from Spring Platt, standing next to Brian Ellis.  You can even catch a glimpse of me in another one.  It's very good of David to act as photographer at events like this when many of us are too preoccupied with the bulbs.

This was probably one of the best venues of recent years for the sale and certainly enabled us to meet up with friends from near by as well as many of our friends and contacts in the plant world.  A good afternoon!

A significant cut in her spending money necessary I think Chas. You never know but this might start to affect your Snowdrop budget. These things need watching closely ::) ;D

We had a lovely afternoon, excellent facilities for someone like me struggling with a relative in a wheelchair, beautiful garden, and dare I say as there were a high proportion of " Norfolk visitors"
a shorter drive and no need to go round Bury St Edmunds or cross horrible roads.  Stress free
and would be very happy to go there again.  Very enjoyable.  Plus of course quite a lot of
interesting purchases that are hard to find.  Loved it.
