John I keep telling you it is Margyricarpus pinnatus the Pearl Berry from Chile and the Andes.

One of those plants that moves around the rock garden for us. Seems to die off where it is, but seed itself elsewhere. Never seen flowers on it either, but it does berry well.
Oh and I can never remember the name either and the label disappears along with the plant.

Eric I can remember the name of the plant even though it's long gone.  I think it was one of our early puchases and it has stuck.  Pity some of the later ones haven't :D

We got one many years ago and it spread hugely across the rock garden, smothering some more delicate plants! After it was removed seedlings kept coming up but we try to keep them under control. The berries are certainly the best feature which is why it is allowed to persist. I live in hope of finding a spot where it can grow nicely without interfering with its neighbours,
cheers

Said to be edible - so I tried it!
Thick skin, large seed, no flavour, decided not to make a pie. :P

Pleased you are fit enough to make the report, Johnny!  Testing such things can be a tad risky!
