More lovely photos, Johan- thank you, too. Seems like a most pleasant Channel Hop!
More photos from Jon Evans HERE (http://www.alpinegardensociety.net/discussion/atshows//Kent+Spring+Show+/20326/?page=1) in the AGS site
I read from Jon that he missed taking a shot of Kalmia polifolia f leucantha from Gemma Hayes, which won the Longfield Trophy for the best plant in the Intermediate Section - I'm sure I spotted that plant in a photo somewhere - but I can't find it now - but well done Gemma!!

Aha! Thanks to Paddy Parmee for this photo of Gemma Hayes' super Kalmia polifolia f. leucantha - very well done Gemma and Paddy too for coming to my rescue !

A few more pictures from Kent. It was a very enjoyable day and Adrian and Samantha Cooper made it so by a conscious effort to appeal to a wider range of gardeners than just members of the AGS. So the range of plants for sale included trees and shrubs from the local Kent Madrona Nursery, which added 'colour' to the Show and gave a more welcoming entrance. Those who came included many admired plants-people and this is Elizabeth Strangman, whose Kentish Nursery, Washfield, has had such influence on our gardens. The Show itself may not compare with the burgeoning benches further north, where the tradition of showing is so much stronger, but it gave an impressive representation of the diversity and beauty of alpine and woodland plants, and will certainly have stimulated interest in many gardeners who came. And finally a detail of one plant, Allium 'Cameleon', shown by Paddy Parmee, who has been so proactive in stimulating Alpine gardeners in Hampshire and beyond, especially in that novel place - the Social Media and Facebook.
A more concerted effort to portray the World of Alpines to a new generation of gardeners and refresh our outlook on these plants.

Inside the Plant Sales Hall, David Hoare the previous Show Secretary set up the 'Sax Hub', a group of plants he is renowned for growing so well. Nurseries included Jacques Amand, Parham Bungalow, Pottertons, Cotswald Garden Flowers, Aberconwy, Plantbase and ourselves. A surprise, and very welcome, guest was Derry Watkins from Special Plants, who brought seed but even more importantly the keynote speaker at the Show, Panayoti Kelaidis from Denver Botanic Garden (here pictured with Adrian Cooper and Bob Wallis).

Here they are!

And finally here is a wonderful display of Auriculas, provided by Rachael Castle (Swallowfields Nursery), one of a small group of Kentish Specialist Nurseries (including ourselves), who have come together to form the Plant Fairs Roadshow http://www.plant-fairs.co.uk/events/. (http://www.plant-fairs.co.uk/events/.) A very good day.
