From Jim Jermyn- to cheer dull December days - a memory from May 2016
Beautifully designed small gardens can be a rare commodity-a favourite of mine belongs to Jim and Mildred Thompson of Fife, Scotland. Their sloping garden has been tastefully terraced with neat lawns and is home to a wide range of choice plants including: Meconopsis 'Mildred' and contrasting Tulipa batalinii 'Bronze Charm'!

Jim and Mildred have positioned plants to good effect including a spreading Daphne cneorum 'Eximea', Dryas x suendermanii and Calceolaria 'Walter Shrimpton', a wonderful array and all flowering towards the end of May!

Lovely garden.

Isn't it? I haven't been there myself, but I do know Jim and Mildred and they are a delightful couple who love their plants.

You can already see it with the care and clarity of the place. They are lovers of gardening.

Looks great! I am longing for May . . . . .

May is always a fabulous time of year in the garden. How do you get Dryas to flower so well? I've never had much success with this one.
Still, Cyclamen coum is out now in the garden, the harbingers of the spring bulbs which will go on continuously from now into early summer.

We'll be back in May. I find months running at full speed. There are so many beautiful things to see before May.

Beautiful garden and beautifully grown plants, but I echo the comment on the Dryas x suendermanii. It grows well in my garden but never has had a flower display like this one.

May equals November down here so this delightful garden looks as if it could be just around the corner, right now. :) All lovely but the calceolaria is to die for. :)

Walter Shrimpton is lovely isn't it? I divided mine in the autumn, hopefully will have several clumps this year.
