We were saddened yesterday to learn of the death of the well-known nurseryman, Harvey Wrightman in Canada. Wrightman Alpine Nursery was established in 1985 in Kerwood, Ontario, where super tufa crevice gardens were constructed by Josef Halda and Harvey Wrightman.
In spring 2014 Harvey, Irene and their daughter Esther and her family all moved with the nursery to St. Andrews New Brunswick.
Harvey will be sorely missed and we send condolences to his family and loved ones.

I was greatly saddened to hear about Harvey’s passing yesterday. Many have probably bought plants from him over the years, but only the ones lucky enough to meet him or to visit the nursery for their open house in the spring, were fully aware about by his deep passion for the alpine world.
I like to think he parted in a last adventure, an alpine one of course; he will be greatly missed...

Harvey had been a member of NARGS since 1986 and Bobby Ward of NARGS tells me that Harvey and Irene's daughter Esther Wrightman Dillon has written a tribute, a deeply moving tribute, to her father which is on the North American Rock Garden Society's site - follow this link to read it (http://www.nargs.org/news/2016-12-10/life-harvey-wrightman)

Harvey will definitely be sorely missed here in eastern Canada. We were so happy when he joined us for the past two editions of the Atlantic Canada Rare and Unusual Plant Sale. A quiet, and gentle man of immense stature, he shared his knowledge freely with all. It was a pleasure sitting down to dinner with Harvey, Irene and many of the other key speakers after the seminar day was done. Rest in peace, Harvey.

Thankfully, Wrightman Alpines Nursery will continue its operation by daughter, Esther, at the Web site: https://www.wrightmanalpines.com/ (https://www.wrightmanalpines.com/)
