Title: Trillium.no seedlist?
Post by: Gabrigarden on October 05, 2016, 06:54:56 PM
Hello!
Does anyone know if Bjornar Olsen is going to collect and sell any seeds this year? His seed list happens to be one of the peaks in winter and since I haven't heard anything from him for a while I'm starting to get worried about it. Maybe I have been living under a rock and then missed something very obvious, but I still have to ask!

Regards, Ida

Hello Ida,

you just have to wait till November, maybe even end of the month, as he hasn't published his seedlist earlier in the last years.

Me too Gabri. Last year he trailed the list quite extensively on Facebook but nothing this year. Haven't seen him on the forum for a bit either. I hope he's ok.

He didn't respond to a couple of emails about plants grown from his seeds. We too look forward eagerly to his list and are concerned about him. However, last year he seemed to be setting up a new business importing wine so maybe he has simply changed direction completely ?

I have seen speculation that because of his involvement with his new wine business, Bjornar may not get around to a list this year at all.

New list is now up on his website.

And he says this is likely to be his final list.

Sadly it may be the last one. I like to browse the list even if not buying to read about new (for me) species.
On the other hand, there is a good part - I thought I'll never make it to see the China's mountains because of the prohibitive costs, in my opinion, asked my some operators. Now there is new hope! :D

From his email: "This will most likely be my last and final seed list, new regulations complicate collecting from the wild, and I would like to focus on other projects instead. Among them is organizing lower cost trips to the mountains of Western China - both to see the mountains in full flower in June, and, if there's interest, I will be happy to organise and guide smaller groups in Autumn. (Follow the web page or Facebook for more information on a June 2017 trip - and email me if you're interested in an Autumn trip)".

Sichuan of great interest here too.  Mountains/plants 3-4 days, Chengdu to eat 7 days.

I went to Yunnan in May this year as part of a preconference trip to Beijing World Federation Rose Society conference as a guest speaker. I would dearly love to return to Yunnan as the plants, people and food was amazing.
