Title: Greenhouse shading
Post by: Lawrence on September 22, 2016, 05:56:49 PM
Interested to know people's thoughts on greenhouse shading and when best to remove it ? Normally would have removed my shading by now but we are still having some good bright sunny days

I've been keeping mine off for a while now even on the odd sunny day we get up here. I reckon the plants probably can cope with the cooler  temperatures and appreciate the extra brightness at this time of year but we are in Scotland!

Mine is still on Lawrence and will be until the weather really changes.

I keep mine on here in NE US until the temperature drops to at least the mid 40's F.

The shading is the prevent the 'greenhouse' effect from heating everything up.

I have a Mylar aluminized  mesh fabric.

Once the Temps drop I want as much light as possible.

Took ours down a week ago despite the drought, we don't want to risk a major botrytis outbreak. Likely a good idea to turn the fans upo too.

At least temps will be in the mid teens and low in single digits for early next week.  Nerine shoots aplenty and this is rather late.  N. bowdenii 'Isabel' is already in flower in friends' gardens, seems to be a reliable flowerer.
