Am I the only gardener who sees a bike shelter like this and thinks; "I REALLY want one (or more) of those … remove the wheel stands, replace them with sturdy aluminium staging down both sides and I would have a perfect open ended alpine house?"
I just need a garden large enough to hold it (them).

given the price, you'd better buy a customised greenhouse with tables and side vents included but it's not the same charm ;)
I can't imagine the reaction of my wife with it in the garden :o

LOL, I feel for you Mr. Booker ;D Maybe it would be cheaper to buy the aluminium, learn how to weld aluminium and make it yourself....a friend of mine (he owns a bike repair shop) recently told me all of those bike shelters were terribly expensive. That's why I thought of looking for the price. No idea why, though...maybe the stuff inside where you can chain your bike to is expensive??

I may be a cynical old bat (certainly wouldn't argue against that!) but I think that things like this are expensive because it is companies or municipal organisations who buy them, not private people. If they had to satisfy the costs of private people they would never charge so much. It has long been my opinion that those charging for anything remotely "public" just think of a number and quadruple it.
Just sayin'! And yes, Cliff, that rounded shelter is attractive!

Not alone Cliff, I even went as far as pricing one a couple of years ago. We eventually replaced the greenhouse with a more conventional option earlier this summer.
Cynical Maggi? Nope, just realism borne of experience. I'm the same. I once needed a new glassware drying oven for my lab and could not believe the price charged by specialist lab supply companies. In the end we went to a catering wholesaler and bought a pie warmer at a third of the price. Still going strong 20 years later too.

Some years ago I made something more or less like that using tubes of a polytunnel (150€) and sheets (6 m long) of polycarbonate.But I had to build a kind of louvre on the West side as the rain was blown 2m inside the tunnel
