On 16th July John Masssey's garden had an open day and Brian and I went along. Sorry it's taken me so long to post pictures. There were labels, plenty of them but I just want to give you a flavour of it. Approximately 4 acres of wonderful planting and the the odd surprise. The first being Vic and Janet Aspland sauntering round.

				More.

-
And more, including a wonderful stumpery and ferns.

-
				Still more.

-
I wish we could still post 10 pics at a time!

-
Did you like the surprise lurking there?

We were entertained by a male voice choir and a yukelele band, both were terrific.
-
A lovely Thalictrum which had fallen forward like a waterfall and a very serene young man.

-
				A lovely pond and grasses.

-
				Last shots I think.

-
I hope one day to visit John's garden - everyone I know who has been there speaks so highly of it. Your photos show why!

Maggi can you take me . Been there twice but seemed to miss his open days because of hubbies golf  :-X

Shelagh thanks for showing us his wonderful garden. Really looks lovely.

I went there several years ago. With the river alongside no ground water shortage presumably at present. A super place to visit.

 Really, Shelagh,
you must've let Brian hide in the garden beds, especially without his tie ;D
The place looks more extensive than when we visited prior to Alpines 2011, though that was a lot earlier in the year.
 Thanks for sharing your pics,
 cheers

Brian it is the canal that runs along the edge of the garden.  In fact several barges passed whilst we were there.

-
I thought it was a canal too, having seen a barge, but Google labels it the River Stour so I typed River.

Google fallible, I may have to lie down in a darkened room ::)
