Title: Alstroemeria
Post by: Mark Griffiths on July 23, 2016, 11:45:04 AM
I want to brush up on growing these in pots as I've recently acquired some new ones from seed. I remember an article in the AGS bulletin from I thought a few years back. I don't think they do the index anymore and in at least one the contents were messed up so I've ended up flipping through bulletin after bulletin with no luck. The AGS site doesn't seem to have any index either.

So does either someone remember it or give me some pointers? I've had A. hookeri for decades in pots although it always seems happier in the plunge. Best time to repot? Should they be potted infrequently or frequently? What about feeding?

thanks in advance.

Mark, the AGS site has got an up-dated index - it's not downloadable, but you can search it online  .... this page may lead you to what you're after:

Looks like Volume 71 may the one you need.: Sept. 2003  article on cultivation from Martin and Anna-Liisa Sheader

thanks Maggi, you are a life saver (of Alstroemerias)..I couldn't find the index online.

I'm still trying to track volume down, I do have it here presumably but I'm sure there was something more recent than that. My memory isn't that good!

I've found it. The bonus is there is an article on Gesneriads too. Amazing, I can't work out if I have a great memory because it's an article from 13 years ago, or a really bad one because I thought it was only about 3 years ago.

Once again, Maggi, saves the day!
