Hi, I'm pretty sure this flower is in the PLUMBAGINACEAE family, however, I'm coming up short in going further. It was found in June on the Col de Vence (French Riviera) which is a calcareous hilly region. Possibilities I've been looking at all don't seem to match the limestone environment. Any leads would be greatly appreciated as always.

It looks very much like Armeria, have a look what species grow in the region.
-
Quite likely, but do you know which species?
-
I have never been in the region Rob, but there must be a local flora/on the internet - that's why I said have a look ;). You may need more detail pictures than the ones you have if to differentiate between more species though.
-
Oh, I've already surfed through a number of sites and google images. (This site is always my last resort for flower identification). I can't find an Armeria that matches with the habitat. Hoping the photos will speak to someone.

It looks like Armeria denticulata. I don't know this species though.
-
Habitat is an important clue but not enough to ID species in some genera.
I would also like to know which one this Armeria which large flowers is. Definitely not denticulata, apparently endemic to Italy and with 'piccoli fiori' - see the link below; it also shows the characters needed for ID.

After doing some more investigation I think I found it. ARMERIA ARENARIA subsp. bupleuroides . But I still can't find an English Common Name. Let me know if anyone can find one. I do not believe it grows in the UK.

I don't suppose it could be Armeria euscadiensis syn cantabrica var Maritima? Mine has just finished flowering at about 25cms.
