From seed kindly sent to me by Lori Skulski and sown in November 2014 and flowering for the first time, Penstemon whippleanus. The stems were quite erect until the recent spate of gales flattened them. Perhaps next year I will support them in some way. Lovely flower colour.

Hi David,

A beautiful set of Penstemon. I don't recognize the one labeled as Penstemon newberryi var. berryi. I do know that it is not Penstemon newberryi in any form. Hopefully one of our forumist can put a name to it. What ever the name, it is very beautiful. Thank you for sharing the photographs.

Robert, the general feeling, from friends much better qualified than I, was that my plant that I grew from seed labelled Penstemon newberryi ssp. berryi is actually P. serrulatus. I'm inclined to agree but there is no reference in anything I have researched on P. serralutus to red margins on the leaves and mine plants have that. Maybe it is just some cultural thing.
