Title: Cypripedium in Lower Austria
Post by: Pauli on June 12, 2016, 06:38:01 AM
Friday I made a trip to the Cypripediums around Mariazell, Lower Austria. I was lucky, because they were in full flower.
First orchids on the walk were Gymnadenia conopsea and a special form of D. fuchsii without any lip markings and Ophrys insectifera.
A little up the valley was aboggy meadow with many Dactylorhizas, perhaps majalis and lapponica and hybrids.

After about an hourd walk I arrived in a Cyp heaven. Gentiana clusii was at the end of its flowering period.

The last ones. Of course I spent quite a lot of time in the habitat. I stopped flowercounting after 500, I think there were more than 1000 Cypripediums in flower!
